Online Shopping Tips from OnlineGroceryStore

If you are unfamiliar with shopping online here are a few useful tips to help you complete your first online transactions:

  • Choose a familiar high street shop or well-known brand name and use their online shopping service
  • Check that the site you are using shows clear delivery prices and returns policies
  • Check that the web page you are using to give your credit card details is secure – the address will start with https instead of http, you may also see a padlock symbol on the web page
  • Look out for discounts and online special offers, it is often cheaper to purchase goods online than in the high street

Protection for Customers

Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 you can decide not to keep good that are faulty or wrong. The seller of products should collect them from you free of charge and refund you the cost of delivery/postage.

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 you can cancel an order between the time you place the order and within seven working days from the day after you get the goods. Some companies may give you longer so check the terms and conditions on the website.

Exempt goods – there are some unwanted good which cannot be returned (unless they are faulty or the order was wrong). These include unwrapped CDs, DVDs and video games plus perishable goods such as food and flowers.
